On Wednesday the 28^th October North Harbour Gymnastics in association with Gymsports New Zealand ran our first ever Hip-hop competition.  Due to it being the 4^th term we had less teams entered than expected but those who entered certainly made up for it with quality performances.

4 Teams battled it out for the top school trophy and the champion team for 2009 is Rangeview Intermediate.  This ace crew was closely followed by Murrays Bay Intermediate in 2^nd place with a very professional performance and then Belmont Intermediate with their slick moves came in a close third. Birkenhead School of Performing Arts came in at a creditable 4^th place which considering they were the youngest group was a fantastic achievement. We look forward to seeing them compete in the years ahead. They will be a group to watch!

Points were out of 10, given for routine requirements including use of the performance area, skill execution and overall showmanship.

Results are as follows:

Rangeview Intermediate  - 9.5

Murrays Bay Intermediate – 8.5

Belmont Intermediate – 8.35

Birkenhead school of performing arts – 6.25

We look forward to repeating the experience again next year given the high standard this year.
