AUT Study Findings:
In
term 1 of 2011 we were given a great opportunity to take
part in an exciting study with two AUT researchers; Sean
Williams & Jonathan Gleave. The title of the study was “The
Effects of Gymnastics Training on Physical Function in
Children”. The study tested the benefits of a nine week
gymnastics program on the children’s strength, speed,
balance, flexibility, co-ordination and reaction speed. The
results of this study are very exciting. Briefly the study
concluded that nine weeks of gymnastics training had a
beneficial effect
on abdominal strength, flexibility, coordination and lower
body strength in the children. Quote unquote "
Gymnastics participation can provide a solid physical
foundation for a positive sport experience and lifelong
physical activity. We would like to thank AUT for choosing
North Harbour Gymnastics to complete this exciting study on
and we look forward to taking part in future studies in
conjunction with AUT.
Thank you funders and sponsors
Gymnastics Community Trust and North Harbour Gymnastics Club
would like to say a huge thank you to all our funders and
sponsors that have contributed.
Their assistance has helped to ensure that events have run
smoothly, coaches can continue their professional
development, gymnasts have lockers and affordable
