Fill your child’s year with fitness and fun. Enrol in a Harbour after-school gymnastics programme. Children aged 5 to 14 will learn the key dominant movement patterns of landing, locomotion, springing, rotating, swinging and balancing. These patterns are the foundation for all sports.

Progression is a key element in the fun gymnastic activities and there are events at which ribbons, certificates and badges can be earned as children progress and develop their skills.

All classes are taught by GymSports New Zealand qualified coaches.

World-class gymnastic apparatus such as the balance beam, vault, bars, rings, parallel bars, mini trampolines, full sized trampolines and foam landing pit are used in the purpose built facility.

It's a great big playground.

Most classes are one hour long, every day after school at 3.45pm, 4.45pm and Saturday mornings at 10am and 11am.

For children who live in the Browns Bay and Belmont areas, there are satellite centres at local schools offering similar programmes with coaches from the main centre. (Browns Bay Primary school – Thursday 3.30pm and Belmont Intermediate school – Tuesday 3.30pm). If you live on the Hibiscus Coast check out our new centre in Silverdale

There is something for everyone at Harbour Gymnastics Centre.  Whether you are a parent looking to play and learn with your toddler or an adult wanting to tone up and increase your fitness there is a class designed to suit you.

It all begins at pre-school age where the emphasis is on fun and learning together but there is a whole lot more going on. Classes are full of activities that encourage brain development, vestibular (balancing) stimulation, primitive reflex inhibition, gross motor skills, vision and development of fundamental movement patterns.

Good body management and movement awareness learning continues in the after-school classes but health, fun and fitness underscore the 143 weekly classes designed to enhance an athlete’s readiness for any sport they play.

Every sport requires a certain amount of balance and agility. And the flexibility gained through gymnastics allows more mobility and is critical for decreasing muscle injuries.

Martial arts, extreme sportspeople, dancers and stunt professionals are among the hundreds of adults who enjoy the two sprung floors in the purpose built gymnasium.

On most Sundays there are gymnastics birthday parties that take the hassle out of entertaining the kids. You can sit back and relax while the kids have a blast playing in foam pits, swinging on ropes and bars, and jumping safely on the in-ground trampoline.

After an action-packed session in the gym they enjoy your party food. You can even give us your guest list and we’ll send out the invitations.

There are lots of activities throughout the year to keep children motivated and active. Gym Festivals and Displays are popular with children keen to show their increased self-confidence and

 skills.

For more serious athletes there is competition and advanced training classes where you can achieve both New Zealand and British Gymnastic incentive awards and badges. If making the regional representative team or the New Zealand team to compete overseas is your goal then there are classes for that too.

Gymnastics is truly a sport activity that everyone can participate in, regardless of skill and age.
