Dance Acro -WHANGAPARAOA
This is a great class for children wishing to enhance their competitive dance routines with different acro elements. The classes focus mainly on learning safe progressions for all types of flick flacks, cartwheels, walkovers and aerials etc. Please see below for skill requirements for each Level of acro.
GYMNASTS USE: Sprung Floor, Flick trainer, Air Track
All children who attend these classes are grouped by their level and the coach will let the children know when they are ready to move to the next level.

WARM UP: The classes begin with a general gymnastics based warm up and stretch.
CLASS: The main part of the class will be structured around drills and preparations for dance acro skills. Part of each class will be spent building core strength and flexibility which will help with learning more complex skills in the future.
TO FINISH: The classes finish with a quick warm down & stretch
CLASS SIZE: 10 – maximum per class
SKILLS NEEDED FOR EACH LEVEL
Your child must be able to do the skills listed in each level before enrolling in the levels below. If they are not yet at the Level 1 requirements then we suggest they enroll in a Recreational Artistic class until they have mastered the skills for this level.
LEVEL 1: Forward rolls, basic handstand, basic cartwheel.
LEVEL 2: Forward & backward walkovers, basic round off, handstand hold, cartwheel with straight legs, backward rolls and good general flexibility.
LEVEL 3: Able to perform all of the Level 2 skills confidently and tidily. Ready to work on Aerials, flick flacks and other tumbling skills.
